Desert Diamonds

The stone of enlightened vision and dreams.

Desert Diamonds, or Saudi Diamonds are not actually diamonds, they are a natural semi precious stone of the same micro-crystalline mineral family as Amethysts, Smokey Topaz and Citrine. Desert Diamonds consist of an extremely high grade Quartz, which when correctly cut and treated have the appearance and lustre of far more costly real diamonds.

They are also known locally as Al-Qaysumah Diamonds, taking the name from the small village of Al Qaysumah. It is believed that in prehistoric times this area was the delta of a river that rose close to Madinah and stretched across the Kingdom.
In these ancient times rains washed igneous and metamorphic stones and quartz from what we now know as the Hijaz Mountains downstream to where the river ran into the Arabian Gulf. Although the Al Qaysumah area is the best known in the Kingdom for discovering Saudi Diamonds, they can also be found in other areas where the ancient river bed used to run.
